Alpine Skiing

In Lappland’s Southern Gateway, there are opportunities for downhill skiing in Borgafjäll and Dorotea.

Downhill Skiing in Borgafjäll

The mountain destination Borgafjäll offers world-class downhill skiing in a scenic environment. All skiing is on natural snow, and you can choose between well-groomed slopes or fantastic runs on ski routes with meter-deep powder snow. The powder skiing, in particular, is well-known and often featured in ski magazines and newspapers.

At Borgafjällbackarna there are two lifts and several slopes, the longest being 1495 meters with a vertical drop of 289 meters. The lifts take you up to the high mountain areas where you have miles of views over the mountain ranges. Additionally, there is a ski-cross track and a children’s slope with a children’s lift.

Borgafjäll is still an undiscovered gem for many winter tourists, and the scenic area is far from overexploited. The small mountain valley has different characteristics, making it suitable for everything from quieter families with small children and touring skiers to alpine enthusiasts and the most daring off-piste fans. The area is one of the snowiest in Sweden, and the slopes usually open in December and remain open until after Easter.
